Job description

  • Previous leadership experience in a manufacturing environment is essential for this role.
  • Previous injection moulding experience is essential having worked within a plastics manufacturing environment.
  • Previous maintenance experience having worked within a manufacturing environment leading a team of people is essential for the role.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, tool and die, equipment PLC’s is essentialfor the role.
  • Previous experience having worked with a variety of equipment including lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control and packaging equipment is preferred.
  • Functional knowledge of metal fabrication and equipment is essential.
  • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance programs are required.
  • Ability to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems and independently take appropriate corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment down time.
  • LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma experience preferred as well as a demonstrated ability to learn new concepts and convey the knowledge to a team in both classroom and practical setting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for :

  • Leading the site maintenance function by providing both reactive and proactive, multi-skilled maintenance services on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure.
  • Responsible for planned scheduling creation and overseeing the adherence and timely completion of work carried out.
  • Increasing the site operational effectiveness, improve on project delivery, mean time between failure and downtime reduction, and manage and implement improvement plans, driving key performance indicators (KPI’s) ensuring that health, safety and environmental requirements are adhered to.
  • Establishing standard policies and procedures for the department.
  • Implementing and managing continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principles by identifying deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices, and processes.
  • Managing the introduction of new machinery, plant, and equipment - from drawing up specifications to managing suppliers through to full installation in collaboration with all relevant parties.
  • Managing the disposal process of obsolete machinery, plant, and equipment - from obtaining agreement to write-off, to physical removal, and ensuring safe and lawful disposal.
  • Managing the preventative maintenance program and providing daily reports and / or updates on maintenance performance.
  • Managing, coaching, and developing a high-performing maintenance team that meets objectives and delivers best practices, added value, and continuous improvements.
  • Troubleshooting equipment issues and assisting operators in restoring productivity.
  • Repairing machines to minimize downtime during production schedules.
  • Collaborating, negotiating, and engaging with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the maintenance strategy.
  • Maintaining a 5S-compliant work area while performing maintenance, repair, or installation tasks.
  • Determining serviceability of parts and components by inspecting used parts using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Diagnosing mechanical problems and identifying corrective actions using blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogues.
  • Fabricating simple repair parts using machine shop instruments and equipment as well as continuously improving spare parts systems and storage practices.
