A well-known plastics injection moulding and packaging manufacturing company is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead the site maintenance function. The role involves providing both reactive and proactive, multi-skilled maintenance services across all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Previous leadership experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.
- Experience in plastics injection moulding within a manufacturing setting is required.
- Proven maintenance leadership experience within manufacturing is necessary.
- Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic systems, tooling, die equipment, and PLCs is essential.
- Experience with various equipment such as lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control, and packaging equipment is preferred.
- Understanding of metal fabrication and associated equipment is required.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs is necessary.
- Ability to inspect equipment, identify potential issues, and take corrective actions independently to prevent failures or downtime.
- LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma experience is preferred, along with the ability to learn and teach new concepts effectively.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading the site maintenance team, ensuring reactive and proactive maintenance on all operational equipment and infrastructure.
- Creating and overseeing scheduled maintenance work, ensuring timely completion.
- Improving operational effectiveness, project delivery, mean time between failures, and reducing downtime by implementing improvement plans and KPIs, while adhering to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Establishing standard policies and procedures for maintenance operations.
- Driving continuous improvement by identifying deficiencies and implementing training, practices, and process enhancements.
- Managing the introduction of new machinery from specifications to installation, collaborating with suppliers and relevant teams.
- Overseeing the disposal of obsolete machinery and equipment safely and lawfully.
- Managing the preventive maintenance program, providing performance reports and updates.
- Leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing maintenance team committed to best practices and continuous improvement.
- Troubleshooting equipment issues and assisting operators to restore productivity quickly.
- Performing repairs to minimize downtime during production schedules.
- Engaging with stakeholders to ensure maintenance strategies are met and compliance is maintained.
- Maintaining a 5S-compliant work environment during all maintenance activities.
- Inspecting parts and components for serviceability using measuring instruments.
- Diagnosing mechanical issues and determining corrective actions using manuals and blueprints.
- Fabricating simple repair parts and improving spare parts systems and storage practices.
