Job summary

Luxury Wine Estate near Franschhoek seeks a proactive Maintenance Handyman to keep facilities and equipment in top condition. You will handle routine servicing, diagnose issues, and arrange external services as required, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks.

Two years’ maintenance experience is preferred, with a Matric certificate and a technical qualification being advantageous. Staff transport available from Franschhoek, Paarl and Stellenbosch.

Qualifications

• Matric certificate required; technical maintenance qualification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC/heat pump maintenance.
• Hotel/property maintenance experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and servicing of tools and equipment.
• Respond to maintenance requests with minimal disruption to operations.
• Diagnose and repair equipment or arrange external service as needed.
• Carry out plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repairs.
• Keep accurate inventory and records of maintenance activities.

Job description

Luxury Wine Estate close to Franschhoek looking for an enthusiastic Maintenance Handyman.

You will excel in this role if you are an efficient, solution-driven individual, who is hardworking and functions well within a team.

The successful candidate must be an experienced Maintenance Handyman able to ensure that the facilities and equipment in and around all properties are well maintained and in good working order.

Staff transport available from Franschhoek, Paarl and Stellenbosch.

Duties

• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and annual servicing of tools, and equipment, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from various departments, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues, making necessary repairs or arranging for external service providers when required.
• Perform general handyman tasks, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, and general building repairs.
• Respond to building maintenance requests in a timely manner.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of tools, equipment, spare parts, and materials.
• Keep detailed records of all maintenance activities, including repairs.

Requirements

• Matric Certificate
• Technical qualification in Facilities/Maintenance/Engineering or related field beneficial
• Minimum of 2 years’ general electrical, plumbing, and/or air conditioning and heat pump repairs and maintenance
• Hotel or property maintenance experience would be advantageous
• Knowledge of safe working procedures of electrical tools and equipment
• Basic hand tools and electrical knowledge
• Valid Driver’s license would be beneficial
• Preference will be given to candidates from Franschhoek and neighbouring areas
