Applications are invited for the above-mentioned position to be based at Supply Chain, Eco-Wash. The successful candidate will report to the RPM Manager.

Key Performance Areas include, but are not limited to:
  1. Maintaining machinery and equipment on the site according to required standards.
  2. Maintaining and repairing site equipment and building maintenance.
  3. Attending to breakdowns on packaging machinery and equipment.
  4. Adhering to Planned and Preventative maintenance schedules.
  5. Improving OEE and ME (Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Machine efficiency) on all production lines.
  6. Reducing unplanned downtime by improving MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and MTTR (Mean Time To Repair).
  7. Supervising health and safety of machinery, equipment, and the working environment.
  8. Ensuring compliance with OHS Act.
  9. Providing effective engineering services to the production department.
  10. Performing administrative tasks (job cards, quality check sheets, etc.).
  11. Performing stand-in duties when required.
  12. Leading and supervising team members.
  13. Participating in TPM empowering excellence.
  14. Managing ICC’s (Maintenance).
  15. Planning utilities availability.
  16. Managing store and ensuring efficient asset utilization.
  17. Meeting plant maintenance standards.
  18. Applying RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) principles.
  19. Managing maintenance budget and assisting with equipment replacement planning.
  20. Approving cost estimates and capital proposals.
  21. Managing abnormal and capex projects.
  22. Ensuring adherence to procurement procedures.
  23. Ensuring compliance with QMS standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BRC, IFS, HACCP, Organic, ISO 17025, SANS 1841).
  24. Ensuring team compliance with policies, procedures, work instructions, and SOPs.
  25. Participating as a HACCP team member (if required).
  26. Participating in Food Defense and Environmental teams (if required).
  27. Ensuring compliance with OHSACT and all health, safety, and risk procedures.
  28. Reporting and rectifying unsafe conditions.
  29. Leading team according to Secondary Production Operating Principles to achieve quality, speed, and cost objectives.
  30. Maintaining sound employee relations and managing corrective and grievance procedures.
  31. Applying performance management effectively.
  32. Optimizing resource utilization and providing training and coaching.
  33. Developing and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement.
  34. Achieving business plans and supporting company values.
  35. Participating in problem-solving, managing projects, and initiatives.
Candidate Requirements:
  • N3-N6 equivalent with Trade Certificate in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in high-speed, high-tech bottling operations is advantageous.
  • Completed apprenticeship with a recognized institution.
  • 3-5 years relevant FMCG experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure and attention to detail.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and knowledge of methods.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and able to work independently.
  • Willingness to work shifts and overtime as required.
