Candidate Profile
- Professional qualification / certification in Engineering (mechanical or electrical) or equivalent
- 4-5 years working experience in operations within the downstream petrochemical or LPG industry
- Knowledge of LPG equipment manufacturing, e.g., cylinders, valves, tanks, pumps (advantageous)
- Good understanding of relevant legislation impacting LPG / petrochemical installations and equipment (e.g., OHS Act, SANS Regulations)
- Strong communication skills (verbal and non-verbal)
- Excellent planning and organizational abilities
- Project evaluation and management skills
- Computer proficiency in MS Office, SAP, etc.
- Results-driven and assertive
- Strategic and holistic thinking
- Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Driver’s license
- Willingness to travel between depots in different regions
Activities
- Manage geographic locations: 1 main (Seveso) depot and 3 regional depots
- Comply with national and local regulatory requirements and municipal bylaws; oversee fully licensed construction and operation activities
- Adhere to internal Group HSE standards, often more stringent than external regulations and competitors
Context and Environment
- Health and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, rules, guidelines, and legal requirements
- Promote a safe working environment and contribute to HSE KPIs and risk reduction
- Enforce HSE competency requirements within area of responsibility
- Monitor and manage One Maestro, Maestro log, and Integrity management systems
- Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and evaluate preventive maintenance systems (SharePoint, CMMS, SAP) and address non-compliances
- Prepare monthly maintenance performance reports based on KPIs
- Carry out depot maintenance in accordance with legislative and group standards (frequency)
- Investigate breakdowns, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Manage maintenance spares and equipment integrity
- Perform safety-critical barrier inspections, loop tests, and maintenance activities
- Report and record safety-critical barrier non-conformances (CMMs)
- Keep Safety Critical matrix current and updated
- Complete monthly Integrity KPI reports
- Co-sign contractor work permits
- Initiate Management of Change (MoC) for SCB infrastructure modifications
- Participate in integrity monitoring meetings
- Support site manager with action plans for non-conformances, safety tours, audits, and depot surveys
- Assist with handling downgraded modes or major integrity threats, including reporting and corrective actions
- People Management:
- Provide training to new and existing staff for safety-critical and environmental activities ensuring competence
