The Maintenance Coordinator for Africa will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all maintenance activities for Hungry Lion stores located in Angola and other African territories. Based at the Stellenbosch Head Office, this role serves as the central liaison between international stores, service providers, and the internal facilities management team to ensure operational uptime, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction through efficient maintenance execution.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review, validate, and prioritise maintenance requests received from stores.
- Allocate and schedule work to external service providers or internal teams.
- Track progress of repairs and maintenance work to ensure timely completion.
- Act as the first line of support for maintenance-related queries from stores (calls, WhatsApp, emails, and ticketing systems).
- Provide guidance to store teams on basic troubleshooting and escalate where needed.
- Liaise with local and international contractors/vendors to ensure quality and cost-effective service delivery.
- Obtain, evaluate, and compare quotes for maintenance work and services.
- Monitor contractor performance and verify job completion before approval of invoices.
- Assist with invoice processing, tracking, and capturing on Sage X3 or relevant ERP systems.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance requests, approvals, job cards, and contractor feedback.
- Compile weekly/monthly reports on open/closed tickets, response times, and regional issues for Facilities leadership.
- Ensure work done meets health, safety, and operational standards.
- Support with the roll-out of preventive maintenance schedules across the region.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements or permanent fixe
Skills and Competencies
- Strong interpersonal and customer service orientation.
- Clear and professional communication in English, Portuguese, and French (beneficial).
- Excellent coordination and organisational ability, especially across different time zones.
- Ability to assess technical information and relay it in user-friendly terms.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets (essential).
- Familiarity with maintenance systems and ERP tools (Sage X3 advantageous).
Minimum requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12 (essential).
- 3–5 years experience in facilities/maintenance coordination, preferably in FMCG, QSR, or retail environment.
- Fluency in Portuguese (essential); working knowledge of French (beneficial).
- South African citizenship or valid work permit.
- Willingness to occasionally travel within the African region if required.
