The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the continuous availability of general building and electrical maintenance services for the hospital infrastructure.

Maintenance Assistant

Introduction

A vacancy has become available for a Maintenance Assistant, based at Life Vincent Pallotti Hospital, reporting to the Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the continuous availability of general building and electrical maintenance services for the hospital infrastructure.

Critical Outputs
  • Responsible for all maintenance-related issues on a day-to-day basis;
  • Handle general maintenance inquiries from doctors and nursing staff;
  • Execute repairs and tasks as per job cards, instructions, or ad hoc requests from line managers;
  • Provide line managers with relevant information as required;
  • Supervise daily inspection of the medical gas alarm system and record medical gases;
  • Supervise daily inspection of vacuum pumps, medical air compressors, plumbing, and general maintenance;
  • Follow up on maintenance schedules for air conditioning and filters.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent;
  • Experience in general hospital maintenance, plumbing, painting, hospital beds, door locks, carpentry, etc., is advantageous;
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical installations and maintenance;
  • Fluent in English;
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to complete tasks timely and accurately, even under pressure;
  • Eager to learn new systems and accept work challenges;
  • Adherence to NOSA and OHSA acts;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Perform standby duties.
