Job Title: Maintenance Assistance

Job Description

Ensure that all manufacturing equipment are serviced and maintained according to specifications and in line with good engineering practice. Knowledge of conveyor belts, wire meshes, modular belts, bearings, and the use of mechanical tools such as spanners, hammers, taps, hacksaws, grease guns, allen keys, pipe wrenches, bearing pulleys, heaters, disassembling and assembling machines.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or N3 qualification
• NCV Technical qualifications
• 2 - 5 years’ experience on production line machines as an operator
• Knowledge and skill of operating production lines
• Basic problem solving skills
• Listening skills
• Ability to work within a team
• Knowledge of Food safety and hygiene requirements
• Basic knowledge of different types of lubricants
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements
• Good communication skills
• Attention to detail

Duties & Responsibilities

• Repair failures on equipment to restore functionality
• Carry out preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance
• Conduct root cause analysis to prevent re-occurrence of failures
• Complete job cards accurately and timely, capturing all relevant information
• Perform daily inspections on machines and report defects
• Strip, clean, sanitize, and grease machinery when required, including working graveyard shifts
• Assist with production line start-ups and preparations, especially on Sunday nights
• Ensure all equipment is safe before work and safety equipment is functional
• Decide on parts replacement and additional work required
• Identify additional activities to improve performance
• Assist with machine start-ups and set-ups each morning
• Organize and plan maintenance activities for plant machinery
• Assist with electrical parts coverage during cleaning after production
• Comply with health, safety, and relevant legislation, including RCL Foods policies during maintenance
• Check oil levels and perform lubrication schedules as per specifications
• Adhere to Quality and Food Safety standards, implementing improvements where possible
