Job summary

Blacksmith Agency LLC is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to own and ship our internal automation roadmap. This builder role creates production systems on top of LLMs; you will not train models.

You will work with engineering and delivery leadership to turn a documented automation roadmap into shipped, reliable systems. This role requires hands-on experience with LangChain-like frameworks and API integrations (OpenAI/Anthropic).

Qualifications

• 2+ years building production software with Python or Node.js.
• Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen or similar agent frameworks.
• Proven API integration work with OpenAI or Anthropic (function calling, tool use, streaming).
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks and basic cloud deployment.

Responsibilities

• Own and ship the automation roadmap; build production systems on top of LLMs.
• Turn a documented automation roadmap into shipped, working systems with leadership.
• Collaborate with engineering and delivery leadership to align on requirements and delivery.
• Support async collaboration with an English-speaking US-based team.

About The Role

Blacksmith Agency is building an AI automation layer into every part of how we work. As Machine Learning Engineer at Blacksmith, you own and ship our internal automation roadmap. This is a builder role, not a research role. You will not be training models, you will be building production systems on top of them.

You work directly with engineering and delivery leadership to take a documented roadmap of automation workflows and turn them into shipped, working systems. This role is for someone who has already built things with LLMs and can show it.

What You Will Build

• Agentic workflows using LangChain, LangGraph or equivalent frameworks.


• Integrations with Anthropic and OpenAI APIs including tool use and function calling.


• Internal tools that reduce manual hours across our design and development production process.


• Automation pipelines connecting WordPress, Figma, Google Workspace and our internal CMS.


• MCP server integrations as part of our broader AI stack.

What You Bring

• 2+ years building production software with Python or Node.js.
