Job summary

Blacksmith Agency is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to own and ship our internal automation roadmap. This builder role focuses on production systems on top of AI models rather than training them, collaborating with engineering and delivery leadership to turn a documented roadmap into shipped, working systems.

You will build agentic workflows, integrate with OpenAI and Anthropic APIs, and develop internal tools to reduce manual hours across our design and development workflows.

Qualifications

• 2+ years building production software with Python or Node.js.
• Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen or similar agent frameworks.
• Proven API integration work with OpenAI or Anthropic (function calling, tool use, streaming).
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks and basic cloud deployment.
• English sufficient for async written work with a US-based team.

You work directly with engineering and delivery leadership to take a documented roadmap of automation workflows and turn them into shipped, working systems. This role is for someone who has already built things with LLMs and can show it.
