Job summary

Barloworld Equipment in East London seeks a diesel/earthmoving mechanic to monitor machine health, perform inspections and drive undercarriage optimisation. You will work across East London, Umtata and Gqeberha regions, aligning diagnostics with customer needs and service standards.

The role requires CAT experience, strong communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to collaborate with a team including customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Qualified diesel/earthmoving equipment mechanic or equivalent
• 3 years Caterpillar experience as a mechanic
• Computer literate (MS Office, CAT Software)
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Sound knowledge of product brands
• Able to work collaboratively in a team with BWE, CAT, customers and suppliers

Responsibilities

• Monitor machine health through EM solutions
• Undercarriage forecasting management performed timeously
• Conduct machine inspections on earthmoving equipment
• Minimise operational abuse and ensure machines are used to full capability
• GET wear analysis Blade/Bucket and compile reports
• Machine operator and application evaluation
• Site severity analysis
• Inspection to quote and quote to order conversions
• Machine downloads and reports on downloaded events
• Manage undercarriage replacements on the Caterpillar Horizon program
