Job summary

HotelJobs is seeking an Assistant General Manager for a luxury lodge group in Zanzibar, Tanzania. The role supports the General Manager in daily operations, staff development and guest experience, with a live-in arrangement and strong emphasis on service excellence.

The ideal candidate will have a Higher Diploma or Bachelor's in Hospitality Management, 3–4 years in luxury hospitality, and fluent English. Experience with lodge, resort or remote settings is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Higher Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management is essential.
• Minimum of three to four years’ relevant hospitality experience is required.
• Previous experience in a luxury lodge, resort or remote hospitality environment is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the General Manager across daily operational, administrative and leadership responsibilities.
• Oversee lodge operations and support departmental managers to maintain exceptional service standards.
• Participate in daily guest interaction, including welcomes, check-ins, room allocations and special arrangements.
• Oversee the performance of housekeeping, butler service and kitchen teams.
• Assist with staff training, coaching and development as operationally required.
• Help manage operating and capital expenditure budgets, controls and related reporting.
• Coordinate uniform orders and biannual supply orders from South Africa.
• Maintain HR procedures relating to performance management, annual appraisals, employee files and contracts.
• Assist with employee-relations matters, workplace discipline and the timely completion of monthly HR reports.
