Job summary

Red Ember Recruitment (PTY) Ltd is seeking an experienced Lowbed Driver to operate a lowbed truck safely between sites in Rustenburg, South Africa. You will load, secure, and transport heavy equipment while conducting thorough pre-trip inspections and adhering to road safety regulations.

The role requires strong route planning, load securing expertise, and the ability to work independently, including in remote areas.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate lowbed truck to load, secure, transport, and offload heavy/ oversized equipment.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer, ensuring roadworthiness.
• Ensure proper loading techniques, including correct use of chains, binders, and securing devices.
• Comply with traffic laws, road transport regulations, and permit requirements for abnormal loads.
• Complete delivery and collection documentation (logbooks, trip sheets, delivery notes).
• Monitor vehicle condition and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures at all times.
• Coordinate with site Supervisors, Diesel Mechanics, and logistics teams regarding delivery schedules.
• Assist in minor maintenance or adjustments to secure loads when necessary.

Red Ember Recruitment is currently recruiting for a client seeking an experienced Lowbed Driver .

Purpose

This role is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a lowbed truck for the transportation of heavy machinery, construction equipment, and oversized loads between sites, ensuring compliance with road safety regulations and company procedures.

• Knowledge of abnormal load transportation regulations
• Proven experience in transporting construction/mining/heavy equipment safely
• Knowledge of road traffic laws and abnormal load permit procedures
