Red Ember Recruitment (PTY) Ltd is seeking an experienced Lowbed Driver to operate a lowbed truck safely between sites in Rustenburg, South Africa. You will load, secure, and transport heavy equipment while conducting thorough pre-trip inspections and adhering to road safety regulations.

The role requires strong route planning, load securing expertise, and the ability to work independently, including in remote areas.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a lowbed or heavy-duty truck.
• Knowledge of abnormal load transportation regulations.
• Ability to plan routes and navigate efficiently.
• Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
• Reliable communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, including in remote areas.
• Capable of securing loads with chains and binders.
• Physically fit to climb on/off equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate lowbed truck to load, secure, transport, and offload heavy/ oversized equipment.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer, ensuring roadworthiness.
• Ensure proper loading techniques, including correct use of chains, binders, and securing devices.
• Comply with traffic laws, road transport regulations, and permit requirements for abnormal loads.
• Complete delivery and collection documentation (logbooks, trip sheets, delivery notes).
• Monitor vehicle condition and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures at all times.
• Coordinate with site Supervisors, Diesel Mechanics, and logistics teams regarding delivery schedules.
• Assist in minor maintenance or adjustments to secure loads when necessary.
