Responsibilities

Job Overview: Long-distance Code 14 licensed driver transporting product from one unit to another. Responsible for vehicles up to 23,000 tons. Reports to a unit Supervisor. Must be energetic, alert whilst driving, and take ownership when exhausted. Honesty and punctuality are essential.

• Responsible for prompt delivery in bulk or bag to assigned customers, ensuring that products are delivered with no driver-related defects.
• Manage fuel consumption within agreed standards.
• Inspect tyres, lights, trailer couplings, and maintain oil and water levels to accepted standards.
• Ensure the truck is maintained in good condition, including cleanliness and bodywork, with no missing or damaged equipment or spare wheels.
• Report defects and aim for zero breakdowns; responsible for vehicle safety and adherence to good driving practices, including safety inspection stops.
• Perform initial fault finding in case of vehicle breakdowns, including tyre changes.
• Maintain availability on cell phone.
• Avoid speed and traffic-related fines.
