Interwaste, a leader in waste management solutions across Southern Africa, is seeking a Logistics Systems Manager to join our team at the Germiston Head Office

Role Overview

The Logistics Systems Manager is responsible for ensuring the operational systems are built, utilised, and maintained in support of critical business objectives. The Logistics Systems Manager acts as a liaison between IT and key business stakeholders, working closely with both to identify opportunities for improvement that will drive cost reductions and process improvements. The incumbent will lead the development, on-going adoption and continuous improvement of the systems that support the logistics function, including Route planning, optimisation, and execution systems (TMS) and resources and asset management applications

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and display an excellent understanding of Interwaste’s operational processes and its operational management systems.
  • Collaborate with business users regularly to understand, define, and document business and technical needs and translate such needs into user's requirements and enhancements.
  • Provide technical expertise, business knowledge, reporting, analysis and coordination on essential system configuration, processes and objectives supporting the logistics division.
  • Lead and manage the successful implementation, on-going adoption and support of the logistics systems and its processes.
  • Utilise knowledge of the operational system capabilities, provides recommendations on future solutions to meet dynamic business objectives (Assisting in the required analysis, design, development and testing of proposed changes)
  • Govern and manage the cleanliness and integrity of operational master data, system configurations and in partnership business and monitor system integrations.
  • Leverage data to provide critical analytics to the operations, conduct what-if scenarios, identify areas of opportunity to drive efficiency & cost reduction and understand any data and/or system discrepancies that may be impacting operational performance.
  • Develops and manage KPIs, reporting and dashboards.
  • Assist in the creation, governance and maintenance standard operating procedures and training documents.
  • Manage and facilitate route planning and optimisation function. Regional planners will report into this function.
  • Co-ordinate and manage future route planning function roles.
  • Conduct user training across a variety of formats (Classroom led, user shadowing, coaching and driver debrief sessions)
  • Serve as a lead contact for daily user interaction, technical support, and other implementation activities.
  • Record, prioritise, escalate, and provide progress updates of system and user issues, impacting a successful implementation and/or adoption.
  • Proactively identify and recommend system and/or process enhancements.
  • Build and maintain robust relationships with business stakeholders.
  • Be an ambassador of the Systems & Enabling Technologies function and its strategic initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • 5+ years’ experience in an IT systems environment
  • System implementation experience
  • Strong understanding of waste management logistics and operational processes
  • Knowledge and experience of utilising, configuring, and implementing logistic optimisation models
  • Experience with issue management, such as maintaining, prioritising, and resolving project issue list. Drive resolution with critical partners through influence, accountability, and leadership.
  • Experience with scope management, such as organizing customer requirements, tracking status of project deliverables, and managing connections between multiple levels of scope detail.
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skill
  • Experience in Software Trouble Shooting
  • Basic SQL querying ability
  • Have a valid driver’s licence and vehicle
