Job summary

A logistics firm in South Africa is seeking an experienced logistics professional to facilitate operations within their automotive department. The ideal candidate will have a National Diploma or Degree in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or Logistics, along with at least 3 years of experience in logistics operations. Essential skills include proficiency in SAP, strong analytical abilities, and effective communication up to management level. The position involves monitoring logistics providers, coordinating activities across departments, and achieving key performance targets.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate achievement of financial, OHSE, quality, sustainability, and productivity targets through KPIs.
  • Control and measure logistics service provider and other departments' performance.
  • Facilitate coordination of logistics activities between departments and external logistics service providers.
  • Support production with logistics, supply, and LSP issues investigations.
  • Monitor LSP personnel on the effective use of the company's systems, i.e. SAP.
  • Institute KPIs, checks, and balances for LSP adherence to procedures.
  • Monitor inventory control processes and ensure targets are met.
  • Investigate financial accounts in SAP weekly and report to management.
  • Chair Gemba and other LSP performance management meetings.
  • Monitor JIT supply processes and investigate supply issues.

Skills

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitate the achievement of the department’s financial, OHSE, quality, sustainability and productivity targets through the implementation of appropriate KPIs and related analysis tools and processes
  • Control and measurement of the (LSP) logistics service provider and other company departments' performance
  • Facilitate the coordination of logistics activities between various departments and the external (LSPs) logistics service providers
  • Support production with investigations regarding any logistics, supply and LSP issues
  • Monitor LSP (logistics service provider) personnel on the effective use of the company's systems, i.e. SAP
  • Institute/ implement KPIs, checks and balances to ensure that the LSP (logistics service provider) adhere to company-prescribed procedures and requirements
  • Monitor and measure main processes (KPIs) and ensure agreed targets, trends and deadlines are running to an acceptable norm
  • Monitor and measure inventory control processes (KPIs) and ensure agreed targets, trends and deadlines are running to an acceptable norm to control stock adjustments
  • Investigate and monitor financial accounts in SAP every week and present reports to logistics management and finance management
  • Supporting and chairing Gemba and other LSP performance management meetings
  • Monitor and measure JIT supply processes and investigate any issues regarding supply
