Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Logistics Manager to oversee warehouse, distribution, and fish processing operations for our chilled, frozen, and ambient products at the Econofoods Distribution Centre in Cape Town. The successful candidate will ensure smooth goods flow from distribution centres to retail stores and foodservice/wholesale customers, optimize processes, manage the team, and maintain product integrity. Experience in implementing lean logistics strategies, strong management skills, inventory focus, customer service, and collaboration are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement regional logistics strategies aligned with the overall company strategy for temperature-sensitive products.
- Collaborate with management to ensure logistics supports business objectives.
- Warehouse Management:
- Oversee daily warehouse operations, including storage, picking, packing, and dispatch.
- Implement inventory management best practices and focus on reducing losses.
- Distribution:
- Coordinate transportation to retail stores and customers.
- Optimize routes and schedules for timely deliveries.
- Manage fleet maintenance and efficiency.
- Ensure excellent customer service.
- Quality Assurance and Safety:
- Maintain quality control and food safety throughout the supply chain.
- Address quality issues promptly.
- Create a safe work environment.
- Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to regulations related to temperature-sensitive goods.
- Stay updated on industry standards and implement best practices.
- Monitor compliance across all logistics departments.
- Cost Management:

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management, preferably with temperature-sensitive products.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations, distribution, and transportation management.
- Experience with temperature-controlled logistics and quality assurance.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
