A leading company in Southern Africa is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to oversee vendor management and facilitate the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) cycle. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in container vessel logistics and a strong track record of performance management. Responsibilities include optimizing logistics processes, ensuring smooth execution, and fostering continuous improvement across the logistics function.
Logistics Coordinator
Vendor Management:
Support all aspects of vendor management with logistics providers in Southern Africa (trucks, warehouses, container vessels, and break-bulk vessels).
Preference for candidates with solid experience in container vessel logistics.
Must have experience handling large-volume ocean freight.
Vendor Selection and Relationship Management:
Participate in vendor selection, contract negotiation, and establishment of service level agreements (SLAs).
Manage vendor relationships and execution.
Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for providers.
Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP):
Facilitate the end-to-end S&OP cycle.
Establish and document formal S&OP processes.
Liaise with internal functions to develop tools for S&OP execution.
Deliver rolling 12-month projections for sales and operations by destination and warehouse, including safety stock planning.
Establish a forecast accuracy review for continuous improvement.
Billing and Execution Support:
Review and approve service provider billing.
Liaise with the traffic team for vessel booking and inland transport management.
Ensure smooth day-to-day execution of logistics tasks.
Performance Management:
Review KPIs with service providers regularly.
Drive performance improvements based on KPI evaluations.
Vessel and Route Management:
Support the logistics manager in understanding vessel availability for loading Company products.
Seek continuous improvement and identify new loading routes.
Warehouse Optimization:
Support optimization of the current warehouse network.
Monitor and maintain warehouse requirements related toCompany insurance, and banks.
Ensure all documentation is up to date.
Tool Development and Automation:
Work with stakeholders to develop logistics management tools.
Collaborate with service providers for timely and accurate reporting.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and automation.
Process Innovation:
Stay current with industry trends.
Propose and implement process or technical solutions to improve logistics.
System Support and Reporting:
Support system implementations.
Ensure accurate communication of logistics data to users.
Prepare and distribute periodic reports and KPIs for management monitoring.
7-10 years experience in logistics roles within Southern Africa.
Proven progression in logistics roles with increasing responsibilities.
Experience in planning cycles and KPI creation/reporting.
Experience running sales and operations planning processes.
Exposure to change management.
Project management experience in fast-growing environments.
Demonstrated leadership/participation in continuous improvement initiatives.
