Logistics

  • Assist with the HS coding on the CIPL.
  • Ensures that all import/export documentation and procedures are followed and comply with all record keeping requirements.
  • Requesting freight estimates from the freight forwarders.
  • When airfreight is to be considered, the Logistician is to be cognizant of the potential size/ weight restrictions that airlines impose on certain destinations.
  • We operate in a multitude of locations globally and as such the Logistician would need to obtain and compile such data ahead of shipment and will need to identify whether any specific mode(s) of transport will be required.
  • Find out ETA of vessels/ Flights and prepare all relevant documents.
  • Co-ordinate receipt of all shipment documents, send to clearing agent.
  • Liaise with transporters, crating companies, hazardous packing companies, etc, to ensure that the shipment is done according to Safety regulations.
  • Ensure that logistics vendors are managed correctly and that we are receiving efficient service.
  • Requesting relevant PO’s/ payments from the Finance Department.
  • Track global shipments throughout the entire shipping process and provide feedback as needed.
  • Liaise with customers in a professional manner.
  • Assist Superior with Ad hoc tasks.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or matriculation.

Experience:

  • Four years’ experience in Freight forwarding and clearing.
  • Must have Oil and Gas or Maritime Shipping experience

Skills:

The following are the minimum skills required to perform the function:

• Good understanding of Import and Export Customs Procedures.

• General sea freight, airfreight, road freight, imports, and exports knowledge.

• Good Communication Skills.

• Good general technical and systems understanding.

• Proficient at MS Word and MS Excel.

• Ability to work independently.

• Assertive and Confident.

• Attention to detail.

• Candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
