Job description

A vacancy exists for Locum Pharmacist based at Life Kingsbury Hospital, reporting to the Pharmacy Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of pharmaceutical services, achieving financial objectives, legislative compliance, and effective people management.

Critical Outputs
  1. Effective medication safety management
  2. Report 100% of medication incidents and develop remedial actions.
  3. Report 100% of pharmacy alerts with remedial actions and trend analysis quarterly.
  • Effective quality management systems
  • Participate in implementing and complying with LHC Quality Management Systems.
  • Ensure compliance with SAPC, DOH, and LHC standards.
  • Achieve customer service levels in theatre and wards.
  • Implement customer satisfaction and pharmacy quality initiatives.
  • Effective financial management
  • Contribute to hospital pharmacy budget targets.
  • Effective product management
  • Manage pharmaceutical costs in line with revenue and budget.
  • Build relationships with doctors.
  • Effective asset management
  • Achieve stock targets and optimal system utilization.

  • Participate in Pharmacist Intern and Assistant programmes.
Requirements
  • B.Pharm / Dip.Pharm / B.Sc Pharm
  • Relevant clinical experience
  • Current registration with South African Pharmacy Council
  • SAPC tutor registration (advantage)
  • Understanding of pharmacy legislation and industry challenges
  • Pharmaceutical product knowledge
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office)
  • Availability for stand-by and call-out roster
