Job description

Dis-Chem is looking for a Qualified Clinic Sister to join their team at Die Boord in Stellenbosch. The key purpose of the position is to manage and operate a profitable, Primary Health Care Clinic that is situated in a pharmacy within the scope of practice of a registered nursing practitioner.

Minimum Requirements:
  1. Grade 12 – Matric
  2. Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
  3. Degree/Diploma in Midwifery
  4. Registered with South African Nursing Council (SANC)
  5. Nursing practitioner must obtain BHF registration
  6. 2-3 years’ experience in practicing as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
  7. Computer skills – Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Advantageous:
  1. Minimum 5 years practicing as a Primary Health Care Sister
  2. Experience with Patient Record System, CKS, Allegra
Job Description:
  • Perform Clinic Sister duties according to industry regulations and best practices
  • Manage clinic foot traffic and set objectives to improve patient flow
  • Ensure all clinic services are available as scheduled
  • Keep accurate patient records and ensure follow-up communication
  • Ensure clinic operates according to operational hours
  • Process claims accurately and promptly
  • Maintain stock and equipment in working condition
  • Ensure stock levels are sufficient
  • Build and maintain relationships with patients, store and dispensary managers, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, community role players, and other healthcare stakeholders
Competencies:
Essential:
  • Knowledge of community health nursing, primary health care, occupational health nursing, family planning, cytology, IUD, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, wound care
  • Quarterly CPD training and in-service training with Dis-Chem
  • Strong command of English (written and oral)
  • Understanding of financial implications of meeting or missing targets
  • Strong analytical skills for clinic statistics and commissions
  • Emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial flair, trustworthiness, honesty
  • Ability to manage team and self; be self-directed and motivated
  • Time management skills

  • Bilingual abilities
  • Knowledge of business objectives
  • Additional courses: Baby Immunisation, Family Planning, Primary Health Care, Breastfeeding, Disease Management
Special Conditions of Employment:
