The Loco Driver is responsible for the safe operation of rail-bound equipment, including team conveyances, material cars, and ore transportation.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Loco Driver’s Certificate/license
• At least 2 years’ experience as a battery-operated loco driver
• Appropriate Dover Assessment – B Level
• Medical fitness as determined by a risk-based medical examination and passing a Heat Tolerance Screening test

Key Competencies

• Proven safety leadership
• Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills
• Ability to understand and follow safety standards and procedures
• Knowledge of explosive handling and transportation standards
• Ability to meet transportation schedules and deadlines
• Knowledge of loco operations, maintenance, and re-ailment

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety standards are upheld
• Participate in safety campaigns and activities
• Receive and understand operational assignments
• Ensure safe transportation of teams, materials, and ore
• Conduct pre-operation inspections of locomotives and equipment
• Maintain locomotives in good condition and report defects promptly
