Job description

Job Opportunity: Litigation Secretary - Sandton

Location: Sandton, Gauteng

Salary: R 50,000 - R 55,000 CTC per month (Market related, Negotiable) including benefits such as Medical Aid, Provident Fund, Life Cover, Disability Cover, Funeral Benefit

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Matric qualification is essential
  2. A post-matric qualification will be beneficial
  3. At least 5 years of experience as a legal secretary
  4. Proficiency in MS Word (preferably MS Word 2010) and Excel
  5. Knowledge of Aderant Expert (CMS) accounting system
  6. Familiarity with FileSite
  7. Experience with Dictaphone and copy-typing of diverse documents
  8. Ability to type, format, and collate notices and pleadings accurately
  9. Skill in incorporating amendments and verifying their correctness
  10. Preparation of resource, counsel, and client files
  11. Strong organizational skills for managing legal professionals' practices, including diary management and communication handling
  12. General office administration and personal administrative tasks
  13. Preparation of pre-bills and billing memos, and liaising with clients regarding billing
  14. Managing debtors in coordination with the accounts department
  15. FICA compliance administration, including follow-up
  16. Liaising with clients, counsel, presiding officers, experts, and service providers as instructed
  17. Assisting with tender submissions and presentations
  18. Arranging flights and accommodations
  19. Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively, reporting to multiple lawyers
  20. Well-organized, conscientious, and detail-oriented
  21. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  22. Strong interpersonal skills and confidentiality awareness
  23. Reliable, punctual, honest, and diligent
  24. Ability to work under pressure and take initiative
  25. Excellent client relationship management skills
