CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Specialist Claims has a position available for a Litigation Manager who will be based in Bellville, Cape Town.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

This position requires an individual to instruct and manage external attorneys. Investigate the merits of all litigation matters and determine whether litigation is viable. Monitor and manage legal costs and also ensure that the panel attorneys adhere to the prescribed Santam Attorney Model according to cost and performance.

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL

• Determine if Policy need to respond to claims lodged by applying policy wording to the facts;
• Appointing and management of resources like Loss Adjusters, reconstruction experts and Attorneys;
• Ensure correct settlement of claims;
• Effective Diary Management;
• Liaise with brokers, administrators, underwriting and other relevant parties to the claims process.
• Service: Providing excellent professional service to all relevant parties, both Internal and External;
• Authorisation of Claims Payments in accordance with mandate.
• Managing the relationship and performance of the attorney.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Matric/ Grade 12
• LLB/BCom Law/equivalent
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in subrogation recoveries and indemnities, or similar experience in commercial litigation
• Two years’ experience after admission (practice experience)
• Being an admitted attorney will serve as an advantage.
• Thorough knowledge and practical experience in Civil Litigation.
