Job description

Production Operator

Purpose
Assist the Production Manager in organizing staff and material flow to deliver the required production of flavours throughout the area on time, following quality standards and in a safe manner.

Core Responsibilities

1. Under supervision of more experienced Operator/Leader, perform basic operation of designated machines and production equipment such as blenders, sieves, spray dryer systems, batching systems, multipurpose reactors, spinning cone column, bulk tanks, Roxane robots, packaging systems, ovens, mills, distillation columns (stills), encapsulation systems. Tasks involve activities like blending, mixing, dispensing, packaging, heating, cooking, adding enzymes, compounding, filtering.
2. Collect intermediates or raw materials, move and load them into production machines.
3. Understand bill of materials and/or formula specifications to add proper quantities of materials in the correct sequence.
4. Manufacture product safely and timely, following process instructions to meet quality standards.
5. Read control instruments accurately, prepare neat and accurate records of operations.
6. Troubleshoot problems under guidance or assist as needed.
7. Assist in performing in-process quality testing, identify deviations, and document/communicate them per SOPs.
8. Prepare product packaging for next production step or shipment according to specifications.
9. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, complete sanitation duties.
10. Follow all relevant safety and quality guidelines including GMP, AIB, OSHA, HACCP, FDA, USDA.

Process Improvement

• Proactively identify process improvements.
• Participate in Lean activities within designated areas.

Academic Background

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Professional Experience

3 to 4 years in flavor, ingredient, food, or chemical manufacturing preferred. Forklift operation skills are a plus.

Technical Skills

• Experience with SAP bar coding/scanning preferred.
• Basic math, reading, recordkeeping skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with RF scanners and labeling.
• Knowledge of ingredient properties like color, odor, addition order, and quality factors.
• Ability to lift up to 25kg regularly.
