Are you a fully qualified fellow of the ASSA? Do you have experience in the Life reinsurance industry? We are hiring!

Aon RE Africa is recruiting a Life Actuary in the Analytics department based on a hybrid basis from our Head Office in Sandton. The role of a Life Actuary is to deliver reinsurance brokerage and actuarial services to insurers in South Africa and Rest of Africa.

What the day will look like

Business development

  • Establishing Aon’s brand in the life reinsurance brokerage space.
  • Building relationships with life clients.
  • Performing research into products and services development.
  • Developing creative market-relevant reinsurance solutions to emerging client problems.
  • Clarifying client requirements and translating actuarial concepts into client-friendly terminology, meeting all reporting requirements.
  • Providing actuarial analytical work to support solution development. May also be involved in product development.
  • Client relationship management throughout the reinsurance brokerage process.
  • Delivering on Aon’s promise of outstanding customer service.
General duties
  • Providing quality advice and actuarial services to clients, consistently meeting approved quality standards.
  • Responsible for setting budgets, meeting profit targets and managing business risk.
  • Responsible for the management, development and growth of the actuarial division.
  • Communicating effectively with all partners, including the EMEA reporting lines and local Executive Committee.
Skills and experience that will lead to success

Qualifications

  • Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Financial Mathematics or similar
  • Fully qualified fellow member of the Actuarial Society of South Africa or equivalent Actuarial body (consideration will also be given to outstanding Associate member applicants)
Skills and Attributes
  • Problem solving with a positive client solution attitude
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and the ability to work with minimum supervision
  • The ability to work under pressure
  • Strong client delivery work ethic
  • Excellent client management and communication skills are a necessity
  • Ability to work with a team to deliver large transactions
Experience
  • Experience within the life reinsurance industry is desirable, covering one or more of mortality, morbidity, longevity or capital solutions
  • Experience with statutory, regulatory and economic capital
  • Consulting skills and experience
  • Understanding of reinsurance treaties and reinsurance operational processes advantageous
  • Management experience advantageous
