Job Description

Lending Specialist: Investment Backed Lending (Lombard Lending)

The lending specialist role includes the origination and servicing of existing Investment Backed Loans (IBL), which are margin loans secured by investments such as stock portfolios, cash balances, or unit trusts.

Role Description:

• Contribute to existing book servicing by engaging with Portfolio Managers and Financial Advisors on loan matters.
• Monitor Loan-to-Value (LTV) ratios and execute margin calls as per policy.
• Support credit functions in loan origination, renewals, and settlements.
• Ensure operational processes for servicing IBLs are followed.
• Liaise with stakeholders on secured lending issues.
• Assist with periodic audits of credit processes.

Personal Effectiveness:

• Manage relationships with IBL stakeholders proactively regarding loan origination, LTV, and margin calls.
• Work collaboratively within teams to ensure service delivery.
• Contribute to process development for origination, servicing, and LTV monitoring.
• Provide excellent customer service and meet SLAs.
• Understand legislation like the National Credit Act governing IBLs.
• Support Market Risk by expanding knowledge of financial markets and instruments.
• Follow due processes to manage risk in processing IBL applications.

Requirements:

• At least 1 year of relevant financial experience, preferably in lending.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint; experience with Loan Management Systems is advantageous.
• Experience with securities-based (Lombard) lending products is advantageous.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Economics, Actuarial Science)
