The ACES (Africa Clean Energy Solutions) Renewables Group is a renewable energy solutions company operating in Africa since 2017. Incorporated in Mauritius in December 2017 and listed on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius since 2019, the company has its South African Head Office in Illovo, Johannesburg. It focuses on developing renewable projects across South Africa, Zambia, Uganda, and Kenya. The company has a pipeline of over 700 MW of solar projects planned for development in the coming years. Additionally, ACES has a growing Solar Rooftop business in South Africa.

Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Legal Manager at ACES Renewables in the Johannesburg Metropolitan Area, with some flexibility for remote work. The Legal Manager will support renewable energy projects, review and draft power wheeling contracts, land lease agreements, financial contracts, and more. Responsibilities include preparing various Board meetings (including those of the listed entity), assisting in project planning, and managing relationships with legal firms. There are good career progression opportunities, including involvement in Risk Management. The incumbent will be part of the Management Team of the South African entity and will also be involved in development projects across other African countries.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years of legal experience, preferably in renewable energy
• Good commercial aptitude

• Completed degree in Law
• Additional education in Commerce is a plus
