Responsibilities

  • Commission and manage legal content portfolios across digital and print, aligning with strategy and commercial priorities, using AI-enabled lifecycle management.
  • Recruit, onboard, and manage external authors and reviewers, setting clear expectations on scope, style and delivery with AI-assisted drafting and review models.
  • Own the end-to-end commissioning lifecycle, including business case development, budgets, contracts, schedules, quality standards, and benefits realization.
  • Plan and prioritise content development and updates by tracking legislative, regulatory and case-law developments using AI tools for horizon scanning and impact assessment.
  • Provide substantive editorial oversight of commissioned content, including AI-supported updating and setting review standards for accuracy and usability.
  • Use subject matter expertise to support design and testing of generative and agentic AI tools for commissioning, updating and maintenance of content.
  • Operate with AI as a standard workflow, documenting prompts and applying editorial judgment to verify outputs before publication.

About The Role

As a Legal Editor, AI Content Updating, you will lead the commissioning, development, and ongoing evolution of authoritative legal content across print and digital platforms. Working with expert legal authors and AI-enabled tools, you will help ensure legal content remains current, accurate, commercially relevant, and trusted by customers. This role combines editorial expertise, relationship management, commercial awareness, and technological fluency to shape how legal knowledge is created, maintained, and delivered at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Commission and manage legal content portfolios across digital and print platforms, ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with strategic and commercial priorities, while optimising portfolios through AI-enabled lifecycle management.
  • Recruit, onboard, and manage external authors and reviewers, setting clear expectations on scope, style, delivery, update cadence, and driving author adoption of AI-supported drafting and review models.
  • Own the end-to-end commissioning lifecycle, including business case development, budgets, contracts, schedules, quality standards, and the realisation of agreed commercial and operational benefits.
  • Plan and prioritise content development and updates by tracking legislative, regulatory, and case-law developments using AI-enabled tools to support horizon scanning, prioritisation, and impact assessment.
  • Provide substantive editorial oversight of commissioned content, including editing and ongoing, AI-supported updating, setting clear standards and review frameworks to ensure legal accuracy, clarity, consistency, and usability across platforms.
  • Use subject matter expertise to support design and testing of generative and agentic AI tools to support commissioning, research, updating, and maintenance of legal content at scale, applying expert judgment to evaluate and refine outputs.
  • Operate with AI as a standard part of the workflow, using LLMs and AI-enabled tools daily, documenting and iterating prompts, and applying editorial judgment to verify and improve AI outputs before publication or stakeholder use.
Requirements
  • Legal or professional background, with a law qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Experience in commissioning, legal publishing, content development, with evidence of portfolio ownership and decision-making responsibility.
  • Clear communication skills and adaptability, with the resilience and influence needed to lead through change.
  • Ability to build strong and trusted relationships with expert authors.
  • Demonstrated openness to innovation and the application of new technologies within editorial and publishing environments.
  • Strong editorial judgment and attention to quality.
  • Effective project management and organisational skills.
  • Confidence working with AI-enabled tools and technologies.
