An established industry player is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented legal officer or paralegal to join their dynamic team. This role involves the vetting of contracts, advising on compliance risks, and assisting with various legal documents and processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in contract management within the construction or corporate environment and will be responsible for ensuring adherence to legal standards and company policies. Vetting of contracts, terms and conditions for credit applications and supplier T&Cs.
Assist in reviewing of “Conditions of Contract” included in contract and advise any legal and/or compliance risks.
Draft Company resolutions for signature. Assist with all Company Secretarial processes and documents.
Continuous Liaison of all stakeholders.
Assist in reviewing tender/bid terms and conditions as well as draft contracts at tender stage.
Evaluate Customer commercial terms and provide guidance to ensure best practice compliance with Company policy.
Reviewing and drafting of lease agreements, financial guarantees, service agreements, subcontracts, etc.
Document management and filing in line with Company document control processes.
Assistance with insurance claims (collecting claim notices and required documents).
Drafting of policies and procedures.
Advise on and ensure compliance with applicable legislation.
Vetting and drafting of SLA’s, MOUs, and NDA’s.
Employee may be required to perform any other Adhoc duties required by your designated departmental manager.
Assisting Finance team with debt collection (i.e., drafting of letters of demand and settlement agreements) and managing process until all debt is recovered.
Assisting with alternate dispute resolution and litigation matters (including drafting of relevant documents).
Drafting of legal and/or compliance material and implementation of staff training.
Key Skills:
Perform all duties to latest ISO 9001 Requirements.
Function as part of a Team.
Ensure total confidentiality of all information, internal and external, pertaining to the business of all its Employees and Management.
Perform all necessary computer functions, ensuring system backups are in place.
Communicate with clients in a professional manner.
Maintain discipline in the organisation to legal requirements and Company policies & procedures.
Qualifications:
Matric and relevant tertiary qualification (Paralegal or studying towards law degree LLB/Law Degree).
Legal Officer/Paralegal experience in a Law firm specialising in construction or within the corporate environment.
Experience in Project/Operational Contract Management in Services or Construction Environment, particularly utilising internationally recognised Conditions of Contract (such as FIDIC, NEC).
Meticulous, accurate, methodical, systematic.
Knowledge base: Construction/Build/Services environment.
Corporate paralegal type role.
Three to Five years’ experience in a similar position & environment.
Good organizational skills.
Good interpersonal people skills.
