About the Role

Our client, a reputable real estate development and investment firm, is seeking a dedicated Legal Associate with a specialization in Property Law. This role, based in **Soweto, Gauteng**, will involve managing a range of property-related legal matters, including commercial lease agreements, property acquisitions and disposals, sectional title schemes, and dispute resolution. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining essential office collaboration with remote flexibility. This is an excellent opportunity for a property lawyer to gain in-depth experience within a dynamic and growing sector. You will work closely with the development, leasing, and asset management teams, providing critical legal support to ensure the smooth execution of property transactions and compliance with all relevant property legislation. The role requires a strong understanding of property law principles and excellent client management skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and retail lease agreements.
• Handle all legal aspects of property acquisitions and disposals, including due diligence and transfer processes.
• Advise on sectional title development and management matters.
• Manage property-related disputes, including landlord-tenant issues and boundary disputes.
• Ensure compliance with the Property Practitioners Act, sectional titles legislation, and other relevant property laws.
• Conduct legal research on property law matters and provide legal opinions.
• Liaise with conveyancers, estate agents, and other stakeholders in property transactions.
• Assist in the preparation of documentation for property financing.
• Support the legal team with general corporate and compliance matters related to property development.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of property market trends and legal developments in **Soweto, Gauteng**.

Requirements

• LLB degree or equivalent legal qualification.
• Admitted as an Attorney or Advocate.
• Minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience in property law.
