Job Description

Reporting directly into the Global Head: Legal, this experienced professional will assist with providing expert legal advice and support to SecurityHQ, which includes, but is not limited to, all legal, regulatory, and related matters to support business growth.

The individual will be responsible for assisting with the contract management process to ensure legal liability and general risk is limited.

The individual will provide legal advice to minimize and/or mitigate legal and reputational risk, by ensuring compliance and providing advice in accordance with business objectives, internal governance processes, best practice, and legislation to all regions where the company operates.

Responsibilities

  1. Conduct research and provide reliable legal advice to internal stakeholders to ensure that corporate activities are in line with applicable laws.
  2. Provide advice and opinions to internal stakeholders in negotiating legal agreements and resolving ad-hoc opinions.
  3. Support the legal team, as required, to manage and execute legal tasks and engagements.
  4. Maintain the contract repository, track contract renewals and contracts management system.
  5. Maintain, review, and update standard agreement templates regularly.
  6. Maintain documentation management system and record-keeping of all agreements and related legal documentation.

Qualifications

  1. Expert legal knowledge combined with strong research skills.
  2. Demonstrated working knowledge of legislation which includes, but is not limited to, POPI, GDPR, Companies Act, King IV, and employment-related laws.
  3. Analytical, attention to detail with excellent time management skills.
  4. Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  5. Ability to interact with diverse stakeholders.
  6. Knowledge of information systems and cybertechnology would be advantageous.

Education & Experience

  1. Minimum of 3 years post article experience as Legal Advisor in a corporate firm or as an associate at a law firm.
  2. Minimum of 3 years' experience of effective drafting, reviewing, interpreting, and vetoing legal agreements and documentation.
