R 30 - R 34 Monthly Basic Salary (Market related, Negotiable)
Our client based in Isando, Johannesburg, is seeking a Legal and Compliance Officer to join their team.
This will be a 4 - 6 month contract. The purpose of the Officer is to oversee and assist with legal and compliance issues.
Key objectives of this role include:
- Providing support to service provider and client contracting by owning and maintaining a database of the companies' contractual terms with service providers and clients, ensuring necessary obligations are addressed.
Main functions of the job:
- Administration of documents within agreed timelines and quality;
- Review and analyze contracts with service providers and clients to ensure that the terms achieve the company's commercial objectives;
- Act as a central point of contact and coordination between internal and external stakeholders;
- Provide administrative assistance to the Legal & Compliance team;
- Support the supplier due diligence process, including uploading information to databases, liaising with supplier relationship owners, and checking submitted documents against policies and governance frameworks;
- Liaise with internal teams and individuals at all levels to support smooth service delivery;
- Ensure adherence to the company's compliance requirements and take corrective actions where necessary;
- Identify process improvements;
- Monitor contract implementation to ensure conformity;
- Collaborate on wider compliance and risk activities related to POPIA, GDPR, H&S, information security, quality, anti-bribery, and corruption;
- Participate in ad hoc projects.

Qualifications and experience:
- Relevant legal tertiary qualification;
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in legal and compliance;
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
- Admittance as an attorney is preferable.
