Job description

Robin AI is on a mission to rebuild the legal industry by making contracts simple for everyone. We are a pioneer in Legal AI, built on proprietary models, licensed data, and deep partnerships with Anthropic and AWS. Since 2019, we've expanded to 4 continents and supported many of the world's most successful businesses, including GE, Pfizer, KPMG, and UBS.

About this role

This role is part of our Legal Team, with plans to expand into Legal Engineering and Implementation. Initially, it involves working directly with investment teams at some of the world's largest private equity and debt funds, financial institutions, and corporates exploring transaction opportunities. As an experienced legal professional, you will review and negotiate a suite of contracts. Robin also offers excellent opportunities for personal career development across various areas alongside traditional legal work.

This position suits an experienced legal professional (qualified solicitor or paralegal) considering a role within a legal team at an investment bank, fund, asset management company, or alternative legal service provider focusing on contract review. Robin works with many such institutions, offering similar transactional work but in a modern, creative, and flexible way.

What you'll do

  • Review and negotiate contracts such as confidentiality agreements, engagement letters, and release letters using Robin's AI technology and your legal experience.
  • Assist with the professional development and training of junior team members as the team grows.
  • Test Robin’s technology products, providing feedback on issues, bugs, and areas for improvement to our engineering and machine learning teams.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably required.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating core transactional documents like confidentiality agreements, engagement letters, and release letters.
  • Experience working with private equity, asset management, or hedge fund clients, either in-house, at a service provider, or law firm, understanding fund transaction structures and timelines.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented, and able to navigate practical and legal issues effectively.
  • Technically proficient and commercially minded, both in legal practice and outside of it.
  • Motivated by working in a fast-paced, diverse, and intellectually challenging environment, with a collaborative approach.

What’s in it for you

  • Salary: Competitive
  • Hybrid schedule: Flexible working schedule. #LIHYBRID
  • Equity package: Generous equity scheme—everyone gets to be an owner of Robin AI!
  • Annual leave: 20 days PTO, plus public holidays observed in South Africa.
  • Growth opportunities: We prioritize promotions for high performers and support your career progression.
