Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyse legislation, regulations and court rules to identify content impacts.
  • Draft, review and maintain editor’s notes, annotations and cross-references.
  • Evaluate legislative changes and updates to publications and databases.
  • Conduct legal research to verify statutory history and authorities.
  • Validate AI-generated content for legal accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform proof review and quality control across print and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with editorial, technology and commercial teams on new content initiatives.

About the Role

As a Legal Editor, you will play a key role in analysing legislation and legal developments, maintaining high-quality legal content, and ensuring accuracy across digital and print publications. You will collaborate with editorial, technology, and commercial teams while working with AI-enabled tools and workflows to support innovative legal publishing solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Review and analyse legislation, regulations, court rules and related legal materials to identify content impacts.- Draft, review and maintain editorial content, including editor’s notes, effective date notes, annotations and cross-references.- Evaluate amendments, repeals, additions, delayed effective dates and other legislative changes and determine required updates to legal publications and databases.- Conduct legal research to verify statutory history, citations, references and legal authorities, and develop legislative roadmaps and implementation plans.- Actively work with AI-generated legal content by reviewing, validating and refining outputs to ensure legal accuracy, completeness and adherence to editorial standards.- Conduct proof review and quality control across print and digital platforms and support updates to court rules and regulatory content.- Collaborate with commercial partners, content editors and technology teams on new product development and content expansion initiatives.- Address external customer questions and complaints and prepare professional customer-facing responses.
Requirements
  • LLB or equivalent law degree required and attorney admission.- Strong legal research, analytical, editing and writing skills.- Interest in statutory law, legal publishing and the application of AI and emerging technologies in legal workflows.- High attention to detail, commitment to quality and strong organisational skills.- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.- Strong communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, content management systems and comfort learning new tools, including AI-enabled platforms.- Experience in legal publishing, legislative analysis or regulatory content management; experience with XML, structured content and digital publishing systems; and experience with proof review, publication workflows and print and digital production processes.
