Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available within the construction industry for a Legal Advisor. The position is based in Plattekloof, Cape Town.

Responsibilities
  1. Legal support: Providing general legal support to various divisions including Finance & Management Support, Management Program, FCA's, and Professional Services. Drafting legal documents such as contract templates, default notices, PSP appointment letters, etc.
  2. Vetting and compliance: Ensuring all legal documentation drafted for third-party funders is compliant. Monitoring ongoing litigation, vetting court documents, liaising with employers and consultants on legal matters, and managing securities registration and related legal correspondence.
  3. Legal risk & compliance monitoring: Identifying potential legal risks, ensuring all suspensive conditions are met, and contract documents are correctly executed.
  4. Recoveries and debt collection: Assisting with debt recovery processes, drafting relevant documents, monitoring repayments, and liaising with external attorneys.
  5. Legal reporting: Drafting and submitting reports to the Legal Manager on legal matters.
  6. HR administrative matters: Drafting employment offers and contracts, assisting with disciplinary procedures, and redrafting HR policies and procedures.
  7. CCMA and court proceedings: Attending hearings, preparing trial bundles, and monitoring performance appraisals.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Paralegal Diploma or Law Degree.
  • Relevant experience in private practice or in-house legal division.
  • Experience in the built environment is advantageous.
