Job Purpose

To provide proactive professional legal advice and legal risk management services to internal clients to mitigate the insurer's legal risk.

Assist Legal Head : Nedbank Insurance in the development and implementation of structures and processes for effective and efficient delivery of insurance-wide legal services, risk management, and compliance.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Build and sustain business relations to ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
  2. Manage and develop partnerships with external counsel/law firms to ensure high-quality legal services at reasonable costs.
  3. Support legal cost management within allocated budgets.
  4. Ensure stakeholder satisfaction by meeting turnaround times and addressing issues through legal risk advice.
  5. Align new product development policies with stakeholders and business processes.
  6. Manage stakeholder expectations by providing management information, risk analytics, and strategic insights.
  7. Advise governance, regulatory, procedural, and legal matters to boards and committees.
  8. Contribute to a positive corporate culture through participation in Nedbank initiatives.
  9. Research and train staff on legal risk management.
  10. Support corporate responsibility initiatives.
  11. Identify and recommend process improvements to add value.
  12. Assist in managing legal risk strategies within the group's risk appetite.
