Job description

Part of the Group’s commitment to renewable energies and controlling global warming, TotalEnergies Renewables International is involved in numerous large-scale commercial, technical, and industrial projects worldwide.

Activities

Under the supervision of the Legal Manager, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Anticipating risks and legal needs, providing alerts, advice, and proposing solutions;
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various agreements such as confidentiality agreements, letters of intent, memoranda of understanding, term sheets, partnership agreements, joint development agreements, shareholders agreements, EPC contracts, O&M agreements, land agreements, asset sale and acquisition agreements, share purchase agreements, and project finance agreements;
  • Assisting the business development team in preparing legal documentation for renewable project tenders and managing legal aspects post-award, including collaboration with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Supporting the business development, project development, construction, and asset management teams on contractual and legal matters;
  • Analyzing and interpreting new regulations within the Renewable Energy Industry in South Africa;
  • Supporting the Legal Manager in coordinating workstreams with local external law firms in line with TotalEnergies policies;
  • Conducting contractual and legal due diligence related to claims and litigation in coordination with the Legal Manager;
  • Assisting with legal and contractual reporting requirements;
  • Providing company secretarial and administrative support;
  • Contributing to training and guideline development for operational teams;
  • Maintaining electronic contractual and legal databases;
  • Ensuring compliance with group corporate policies;
  • Promoting a culture of compliance and integrity;
  • Performing any other duties assigned by the line manager.
    Candidate Profile

    LLB or BCom Law with additional studies in business.

    Minimum of 5 to 6 years’ experience as a private practice or in-house legal advisor, with strong knowledge of South African IPP Power and Renewable projects.

    Experience in the commercial and finance departments within a multinational company is desirable.

    Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

    Pragmatic, solution-oriented, well-organized, adaptable to project environment changes, and capable of handling complex situations.

    Strong interpersonal skills are essential for collaborating with third parties and peers across the TotalEnergies Group.
