Job Description
Purpose of the Position: A Lecturer is expected to contribute to the institution's teaching efforts and engage in activities that maintain and develop their professional activities relevant to their discipline.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions, and studio sessions.
- Initiate and develop subject material.
Development and Supervision
- Prepare and deliver lectures and seminars.
- Supervise postgraduate students engaged in coursework.
- Initiate and develop unit materials and supervise research students as applicable.
Research and Innovation
- Supervise postgraduate research projects.
- Conduct research.
- Engage in professional activities.
Development of Course Materials
- Develop course materials with support from senior staff.
- Handle marketing and assessment.
- Consult with students.
Minimum Requirements
Lecturer
- Relevant master’s degree in risk management (NQF level 9).
- At least 2 years of lecturing experience.
Senior Lecturer
- Relevant PhD in risk management (NQF level 10).
- At least 3 years of lecturing experience.
- At least 2 years of postgraduate supervision experience (M&D students).
Additional Advantages
- Professional registration (e.g., ECSA, SACNASP, SAICA).
- Membership in IRMSA, CISA, or similar organizations.
Technical and Functional Competencies
- Proficiency in MS Office, email, and internet.
- Knowledge of assessment theories and practices.
