Job Description

Purpose of the Position: A Lecturer is expected to contribute to the institution's teaching efforts and engage in activities that maintain and develop their professional activities relevant to their discipline.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
  • Conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions, and studio sessions.
  • Initiate and develop subject material.
Development and Supervision
  • Prepare and deliver lectures and seminars.
  • Supervise postgraduate students engaged in coursework.
  • Initiate and develop unit materials and supervise research students as applicable.
Research and Innovation
  • Supervise postgraduate research projects.
  • Conduct research.
  • Engage in professional activities.
Development of Course Materials
  • Develop course materials with support from senior staff.
  • Handle marketing and assessment.
  • Consult with students.
Minimum Requirements
Lecturer
  • Relevant master’s degree in risk management (NQF level 9).
  • At least 2 years of lecturing experience.
Senior Lecturer
  • Relevant PhD in risk management (NQF level 10).
  • At least 3 years of lecturing experience.
  • At least 2 years of postgraduate supervision experience (M&D students).
Additional Advantages
  • Professional registration (e.g., ECSA, SACNASP, SAICA).
  • Membership in IRMSA, CISA, or similar organizations.
Technical and Functional Competencies
  • Proficiency in MS Office, email, and internet.
  • Knowledge of assessment theories and practices.
