Job title : Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (2 Positions) (In Nursing)

Job Location : Free State, Bloemfontein

Deadline : August 04, 2025

Duties and responsibilities :

  • Responsible for teaching and learning in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the relevant field, including lectures, tutorials, practical classes (preparation and presentation), assessments, and seminars.
  • Coordinate and lecture modules in applicable fields.
  • Provide clinical supervision of students within the applicable field and relevant fields.
  • Support skills development within the applicable field and relevant fields.
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
  • Contribute to curriculum development.
  • Maintain a scholarly profile in an academic department.
  • Conduct research, publish research outputs, and present findings.
  • Participate in national and/or international forums to share research results.
  • Identify and access funding sources to support research activities.
  • Update knowledge and understanding in the field of specialization.
  • Engage actively in the department's research focus areas.

Inherent requirements :

For Lecturer :
  • PhD on NQF Level 10 in Nursing (for permanent appointment).
  • Master's degree on NQF Level 9 in Nursing (contract appointment: five years, during which a doctoral degree must be obtained to convert to a permanent position).
  • Professional Bachelor's degree on NQF Level 8 in Nursing or equivalent (attach proof).
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse General (General, Psychiatry, Community) and Midwife / Accoucheur (attach proof).
  • Additional qualification in Nursing Education registered with SANC (attach proof).
  • Additional qualification in Occupational Health Nursing or Peri-operative Nursing Care registered with SANC (attach proof).
  • Proven experience in delivering conference presentations or equivalent activities.
  • Evidence of manuscripts with potential for publication in accredited journals.
  • Good academic record (attach proof).
  • Proven clinical experience post-basic training.
For Senior Lecturer :
  • PhD on NQF Level 10 in Nursing.
  • Professional Bachelor's degree on NQF Level 8 in Nursing or equivalent (attach proof).
  • Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse General and Midwife / Accoucheur (attach proof).
  • Additional qualification in Nursing Education registered with SANC (attach proof).
  • Additional qualification in Occupational Health Nursing or Peri-operative Nursing Care registered with SANC (attach proof).
  • Proven experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules.
  • Experience presenting papers at national scholarly conferences.
  • Recognition for expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship.
  • Potential for NRF rating.
  • Supervision experience of master's students.
  • Research record with publications in reputable journals.
  • Active membership in scholarly societies or research committees.
  • Proven clinical experience post-basic training.
