Job summary

Durban University of Technology invites applications for a Lecturer in the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Technology. This permanent position requires a Master’s degree in Clinical Technology and HPCSA registration as an Independent Practitioner in neurophysiology or related fields.

You will teach, supervise and assess students, coordinate practicals and assessments, and contribute to research and community engagement within a vibrant, multi-campus university in KwaZulu-Natal.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Clinical Technology or equivalent.
• Registration with HPCSA as an Independent Practitioner in Neurophysiology, Reproductive Biology, or Cardiovascular Perfusion.
• 3 years’ experience in a Clinical Technology unit involved in student training.
• Good organisational and administrative skills.
• Experience in E-Teaching and learning.
• Proficiency in research, writing and communications skills.
• Motivated self-starter, accountable and a team player.
• Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet and email use.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver learning material for Clinical Technology students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Supervise, train and assess undergraduate students in Clinical Technology.
• Guide students’ practicals and monitor progress in Clinical Practice.
• Coordinate and invigilate theoretical assessments.
• Supervise student research and undertake related duties.
• Undertake assessment and administration duties related to teaching and learning and research.
• Facilitate learning through traditional and online media.
• Communicate with students and staff in clinical training and DUT platforms.
• Undertake research and publications and engage in community projects.
• Collaborate with team to achieve departmental goals.
