Job summary

Varsity College is seeking a qualified educator to teach Intermediate Phase English First and additional modules. The ideal candidate will possess a B.Ed. Honours or equivalent, proficiency in Afrikaans, and effective classroom management skills. This is a contract position with a focus on promoting development in an educational environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education required with Afrikaans as a major.
  • Experience in teaching or lecturing Afrikaans at the Intermediate Phase or Senior Phase needed.
  • Teaching Practice or Internships do not qualify as relevant experience.

  • Teach Intermediate Phase English First and FAL 1 and 2.
  • Manage classroom effectively to support student learning.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • B.Ed. Honours degree or an Honours degree in Afrikaans or another Humanities / Arts / Social Science Honours or Postgraduate Diploma in Education (NQF level 8) in IP / SP / FET / HE
  • The qualification must include a module on Teaching and Learning / Pedagogy.
  • The undergraduate qualification must include Afrikaans as a major (up to third year level) or the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (NQF level 8) must include Afrikaans as a didactic subject.

Minimum Work Experience Requirement: Teaching or lecturing experience in Afrikaans at Intermediate Phase, Senior Phase, FET band, or Higher Education band is required. Note: Experience gained during Teaching Practice, Work Integrated Learning, Internships, or as a Teaching Assistant does not qualify.

Working Conditions: This is an Independent Contractor role.
