Job summary

Rosebank College, part of The IIE, seeks an experienced lecturer in Operations Management to teach and support students across logistics-related modules. You will track results, engage with the academic team, and help identify at risk students while contributing to programme development.

The role requires a PhD in Operations Management, prior higher education lecturing experience, and knowledge of ESG concepts and process improvement. Classes follow standard college hours.

Qualifications

• Doctorate (NQF 10) in Operations Management.
• Minimum 2 years higher education lecturing experience in logistics, transport, or distribution-related modules.
• Professional experience in freight management, multimodal transport, warehousing systems, trade compliance, route optimisation, or global logistics operations.
• One NQF level higher than the qualification being taught.
• Copy of academic transcript.

Responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and engage students based on module requirements in line with module pacing.
• Manage resources, including academic materials and consulting with the Information Centre.
• Update learning management system and provide feedback to students.
• Prepare students for assessments and develop assessments per Central Academic Team briefings.
• Monitor student engagement and assessment submissions with escalation as needed.
• Attend and participate in academic meetings across faculties.
• Reflect on, review, and analyse student module results.
• Support monitoring of at‑risk students in allocated modules.
• Complete academic professional development interventions per cycle to improve teaching practices.

Job Purpose:

To teach / lecture an agreed number of hours based on module specialisation requirements. To engage and prepare students for assessments by tracking module pacers, identifying and supporting at risk students, managing general student administrative support, and developing assessments by engaging with the Central Academic Team. Assisting the Programme Coordinator in tracking and analysing of academic results to evaluate the performance of the module and to identify “at risk modules.”

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Deliver lectures and engage students based on module-specific requirements in line with module pacers.
• Manage resources including academic materials and consulting with the Information Centre
• Update learning management system and provide feedback to students.
• Engage and prepare students for assessments, identify at risk students, and develop assessments in accordance with Central Academic Team briefings.
• Monitor student engagement as well as assessment submission with relevant escalation.
• Attend and participate in academic meetings across all faculties.
• Reflect on, review, and analyse student module result.
• Support the monitoring of at-risk student in modules assigned to lecture.
• Academic Professional Development: complete a set number of academic professional development interventions per academic cycle (one year) that contribute to the improvement of the Brand’s Teaching-Learning practice and personal professional academic status.

Minimum Requirements:

• Doctorate (NQF 10) in Operations Management.
• Minimum 2 years higher education lecturing experience in logistics, transport, or distribution-related modules. Lecturing experience in sustainability, governance, risk, or supply chain resilience. Lecturing experience in operations management or process optimisation at postgraduate level
• Professional experience in freight management, multimodal transport, warehousing systems, trade compliance, route optimisation, or global logistics operations. Experience in ESG implementation, sustainable procurement, circular supply chains, risk management, or corporate governance frameworks. Experience in Lean, Six Sigma, TQM, smart manufacturing, service operations, or process improvement initiatives
• One NQF level higher than the qualification being taught.
• Copy of academic transcript.

Working Hours:

Classes are scheduled from 08h00am until 17h00pm, Monday to Friday. Your working hours will depend on the modules allocated to you.
