Technical Competencies Required:
Deep understanding of network models (OSI & TCP/IP), topologies, and communication protocols (e.g., TCP, UDP, HTTP, FTP, DNS).
Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, access points).
Familiarity with command-line network troubleshooting tools like ping, tracert, ipconfig, nslookup, and netstat.
Strong knowledge of network security principles, including firewalls, authentication, encryption, and risk assessment.
Experience with network simulation tools such as Cisco Packet Tracer, Hyper-V, and Nmap.
Knowledge of network virtualization, cloud computing models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), and software-defined networking (SDN).
Minimum Education Requirements
Honours degree in an ICT related field including a networking focus.
Alternatively a NQF8 qualification with strong exposure to networking technologies.
Minimum Experience Requirements
Lecturing experience in network design/network infrastructure/network architecture will be advantageous.
Work experience as a Systems Engineer/Network Manager or Infrastructure Manager will be advantageous.
Working Conditions
Please note that this is an Independent Contractor Part time role.
Positions are part-time, with lectures taking place between 08:00am and 17:00pm.
