Job Purpose

The purpose of this vacancy is to appoint a permanent lecturer to teach Afrikaans Home Language to Bachelor of Education students.

Please note that the position is based at the Wellington campus where tuition is in Afrikaans. Candidates must be able to teach in Afrikaans

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A relevant Master’s degree to the teaching of Afrikaans Home Language
  • A Bachelor’s degree with Afrikaans as a major
  • A relevant teaching qualification
  • At least two (2) years relevant teaching the subject at the tertiary level or five (5) years’ experience in teaching Afrikaans at secondary level (grade 8 – 12)
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience in preparing and evaluating meaningful teaching experiences for Senior and FET phase students.
  • Knowledge of how to write in academic language and how to do research is of utter importance.
  • Fluency in Afrikaans and English – BEd tuition on the Wellington Campus is in Afrikaans.
