Brief Description

Digital Arts is recruiting a Lecturer in Writing and Interactivity for a permanent position.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • A relevant PhD in Digital Arts or Theatre and Performance Arts
Advantageous:
  • Extensive experience in teaching Writing and Interactivity for Digital Arts students
  • Extensive curation through multimodal and multidisciplinary research in Digital Theatre and Arts
  • Practical re-enchantment of the global south, integrating cultures and African perspectives
  • Skills in supervising Masters students in storytelling, digital products, narrative, new digital media, guided by traditional mediums like dance, theatre, and archives
  • Ability to develop indigenous storytelling and narratives in group and individual settings to support digital storytelling
Research and Teaching Interests:

The candidate should be an expert in digital storytelling, translation, adaptation, and transposition within digital arts and interactive storytelling, especially relating to African short stories, indigenous cultures, and the Global South. These will form core components of teaching and research duties.

Technical Skills:
  • Understanding of storytelling techniques from the Global South and Africa
  • Understanding of interactivity and digital performance
Duties and Expectations:
  • Teaching writing and interactivity within digital arts
  • Course coordination for digital arts writing and interactivity programs
  • Assisting with divisional administration
  • Supervising Masters and PhD students in digital arts
