Job summary

Durban University of Technology (DUT) invites applications for a Lecturer in Surveying/Geomatics. The successful candidate will teach, assess, and supervise at all levels within the Geomatics domain on a busy, research-driven campus in Durban.

We seek an MTech or MSc in Surveying/Geomatics (with undergraduate in the same field), at least 3 years of academic or professional experience, and current or imminent doctoral studies in Surveying/Geomatics; strong research track record and good

  • Teaching, assessing, and supervising at all relevant levels.
  • Development of learning materials for Geomatics courses.
  • Actively involved in research and/or postgraduate supervision in the department.
  • Contribute/lead curriculum design and support delivery of quality teaching and learning.

Lecturer
  • MTech/MSc qualification in Surveying/Geomatics or equivalent, with an undergraduate qualification in Surveying/Geomatics.
  • At least 3 years of academic and/or professional experience.
  • Required to currently be pursuing or immediately pursue a doctoral qualification in Surveying/Geomatics
Additional Recommendations
  • Good communication and lecturing skills
  • A strong passion for teaching and research
  • Good research track record or relevant research experience and an ability and desire to advance research development in the Department
  • Professional registration with SAGC

  • Responsible for modules allocated in accordance with fair workload distribution.
  • Development of learning materials for different courses.
  • Actively involved in research and/or post-graduate supervision in the department.
  • Assist with administrative and other duties as prescribed by the Head of Department or representative as delegated.
  • Contribute/lead curriculum design.
  • Assist the department in the delivery of quality teaching and learning.
