Job description

Duration: Immediate until 28 th of February 2025

Reporting to: Learner Support Agent Supervisor

Organisational Background

Centre for Community Impact (CCI) is a non-profit South African organisation based in Pretoria. We aim to be a centre of excellence in strategic health and development communication programs that are centred around meaningful Community Engagement.

Position Summary

Render Professional and Effective guidance to support schools to render care, support, and protection to vulnerable learners in line with the implementation of HIV/AIDS life skills education programme and Care and Support for teaching and learning (CSTL). Provide Learner Support Agents monitoring and support services at both secondary Schools and their feeder primary Schools for consistent learner development throughout grades progression.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional support to vulnerable learners.
  • Accompany learners to access social welfare services.
  • Assist learners with homework, especially those from child and granny-headed families.
  • Facilitate Peer Education Activities (Soul Buddyz, MTV Shuga, DBE Peer Education) in-school and at the community safe spaces.
  • Organise with educators and SBSTs on commemorative events in the school calendar related to HIV/AIDS, TB, and COVID-19 prevention.
  • Establish and manage networks with local stakeholders that support the provision of care and support for learners.
  • Provide support to pregnant learners, those who are sick, or missed school by taking schoolwork to their homes.
  • Develop and submit monthly and quarterly reports to the school principal and district learner support agent supervisor.
  • Provide support to other counselling needs within the circuit.
  • Provide core AYP services at the community safe spaces.
  • Support Community Safe Space activities during school holidays and outreach activities.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisors/managers.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A recognized Certificate or Diploma in Community Development or Social Auxiliary Work.
  • Current registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
  • Police clearance certificate.
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Good writing skills that will enable the incumbent to compile reports.
  • Good communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work with learners, educators, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work individually and as a team.
