Main Purpose of the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a diligent, proactive Health and Safety professional to join our team.
This individual will be responsible for overseeing adherence to HSE policies and procedures on site.
Due to the nature of the role, we are looking for someone who is highly engaged and can communicate effectively with people at every level of the organisation.
Qualifications and Experience
- B-Tech / National Diploma in Environmental Health
- National Diploma in Food Technology or Food Science with supplementary HACCP and ISO 22000 implementation experience
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience in food production, food manufacturing, or auditing of food safety management systems
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Manage the company's Food Safety and Occupational Health and Safety Management systems at a contract level
- Work closely with onsite management teams, leading from the front and addressing unsafe behaviors and practices
- Oversee sanitation, housekeeping, and cleaning in the facility
- Verify implementation of all Pre-Requisite Programmes and collaborate with facilities teams on maintenance issues
- Implement and monitor the Personnel Hygiene Programme, ensuring alignment with site and client requirements
- Ensure all procedures are documented and staff are trained and competent
- Monitor and verify all Critical Control Points (CCPs)
- Train staff on Food Safety Management System and Standard Operating Procedures
- Communicate effectively to engage and mobilize team members in food safety management
- Assess situations, interpret facts, and develop action plans to address non-conformances
- Work with various levels of the organization and handle challenging situations
- Conduct internal audits, classify non-conformances, and implement corrective actions
- Maintain records, documentation, and reports
- Provide feedback to management and clients
- Verify the quality, safety, and compliance of incoming ingredients
- Investigate incidents using Root Cause Analysis and ensure proper close-out
- Ensure legal compliance of the contract
- Liaise with Environmental Health Practitioners, Department of Health, fire department, etc.
- Adhere to company ethics and confidentiality policies
- Maintain professional communication and inform colleagues of relevant developments
